Ruiz remains PCO acting sec amid replacement rumors

Veteran journalist Jaybee C. Ruiz continues to serve as the acting secretary of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), according to Palace press officer Undersecretary Claire Castro.

Castro neither confirmed nor denied rumors that Ruiz might be replaced by Dave Gomez, a former Philippine Star journalist and current corporate communications executive, but stated on Wednesday that she has not received any information about such changes.

Gomez's appointment as the new PCO secretary remains unconfirmed, despite reports suggesting otherwise.

Ruiz's potential replacement would mark the fourth PCO secretary in just three years under the Marcos administration.

The Commission on Appointments (CA) failed to deliberate on Ruiz's ad interim appointment due to lack of time, leading President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to reappoint him after Congress adjourned sine die on June 13.

Ruiz expressed gratitude for the president’s continued trust and pledged to continue working with professionalism, integrity, and purpose.
