Ilocos Norte daily min wage hike to PHP33 starting Nov 7

Workers in Ilocos Norte will receive a PHP33 daily wage hike starting November 7 as approved by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) on October 16.

The new order raises the daily minimum wage for non-agriculture workers in companies with 10 or more employees to PHP468, while those in smaller firms will earn at least PHP435 per day.

Kasambahay or household workers will see their monthly minimum salary rise by PHP500 to PHP6,000.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) noted that this wage hike represents an 8 percent increase from current rates and may result in a 12 percent increase in wage-related benefits such as SSS, PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG.

Approximately 170,143 minimum wage earners will directly benefit from the new rates, while about 349,112 full-time workers earning above the minimum wage may also see indirect benefits.

The RTWPB's Wage Order No. RB 1-DW-05 increased the monthly minimum wage of domestic workers to PHP6,000 from P5,500, with over 99,000 domestic workers expected to benefit.
