Rookie Lalongisip leads Cignal to victory, earns rookie of the week

Rookie Ishie Lalongisip has become a key player for Cignal HD Spikers, helping them remain competitive despite losing main hitter Ces Molina and middle blocker Riri Meneses mid-season.

Lalongisip, picked seventh overall in the first-ever PVL Draft, scored 13 points to help Cignal defeat Capital1 last Thursday at Philsports Arena, ending a two-game losing streak and earning her the distinction as the first rookie to win the PVL Press Corps Player of the Week presented by Pilipinas Live for February 4-8.

The Adamson University product's performance showcased maturity beyond her years as she stepped up in crucial moments, demonstrating consistency and determination.

At 23 years old, Lalongisip credits head coach Shaq Delos Santos for her growth and embraces the bigger role with greater responsibilities.

Cignal will look to build on their renewed momentum against ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles in a pre-Valentine's Day match at Philsports Arena.
