Romualdez proclaims victory in Leyte's 1st District

House Speaker Martin Romualdez has been officially proclaimed as the representative for Leyte's 1st District, securing his third consecutive term with 177,485 votes in the unopposed midterm elections.

Based on partial, unofficial results from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) with 80.15% of precincts reporting, Romualdez received an updated total of 177,485 votes following his proclamation by the Provincial Board of Canvassers in Leyte led by lawyer Ma. Goretti Caseñas-Cañas.

Romualdez, a member of the Marcos administration-allied Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats party and cousin to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Senator Imee Marcos, expressed gratitude for the support received from Tacloban and other municipalities within his district.

In his statement following the proclamation, Romualdez vowed to strengthen efforts in the upcoming 20th Congress, assuring that the House will be more productive and work harder for the Filipino people.

This marks Romualdez's sixth overall term as representative of Leyte's 1st District since winning in 2019.
