DA selects Camarines Sur as LGU partner for P33/kg rice initiative

Camarines Sur's 2nd district Rep. LRay Villafuerte announced that his province has been selected as one of the initial local government unit (LGU) partners for the Department of Agriculture's (DA) initiative to sell rice at P33 per kilo.

House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez commended the government's recent initiatives to make rice more affordable, emphasizing the need for sustained efforts and direct engagement with constituents in May 12 midterm elections.

Romualdez highlighted that the DA will implement policies such as reducing import tariffs on rice from 35 percent to 15 percent and selling NFA rice at P35 per kilo to stabilize food prices.

Quezon Rep. Mark Enverga, chairperson of the House Committee on Agriculture and Food, welcomed these government decisions and called for stricter enforcement of price transparency to prevent unscrupulous traders from taking advantage of supply chain inefficiencies.
