House Speaker Romualdez pledges full budget support and P350 daily allowance for soldiers

House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez assured military personnel of full budget support and an extra P350 daily allowance for soldiers amid political tensions.

During a courtesy call with 17 generals and senior Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) officers, including newly promoted flag officers, Romualdez emphasized the importance of adequate funding for operations, modernization efforts, and welfare benefits.

Lt. Gen. Jimmy Larida, commander of Southern Luzon Command, thanked Romualdez on behalf of the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines for their loyalty to the Constitution, while AFP Intelligence Command commander Lt. Gen. Ferdinand Barandon reaffirmed the military's commitment to upholding professionalism and supporting the government.

Romualdez pledged continued collaboration with the AFP leadership to fast-track programs aimed at uplifting soldiers' morale, particularly those deployed in remote and high-risk areas.

The proposed 2025 national budget includes provisions to address soldiers' needs and improve living conditions, with the allowance increase described as a significant morale booster by Lt. Gen. Jimmy Larida.

Romualdez assured the AFP that the House will continue to support programs such as the daily subsistence allowance increase, which is included in the approved 2025 national budget.
