Duterte eyes mayoral comeback from ICC detention

Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte expressed confidence about returning to his role as Davao City mayor during a visit by family members in detention in The Hague on Friday, May 9.

His daughter Veronica, who accompanied other family members to visit him, said Duterte is seeking a comeback as the city's mayor this year and is excited about it.

Incumbent Mayor Sebastian Duterte, the former president's son, is running alongside his father for the position of Davao City mayor in the upcoming election on May 12.

The rally also served as a campaign event for the Duterte family's local candidates and the Partido Demokratiko ng Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan Senate slate.

Despite being detained under the International Criminal Court's custody, Duterte remains hopeful of his release and securing his comeback in Davao City.
