Omar Vincent Duterte wins Davao City 2nd District seat

Omar Vincent Duterte secured victory in Davao City's 2nd District with 160,432 votes based on partial unofficial results as of Tuesday, May 13.

Former president Rodrigo Duterte was elected mayor of Davao City for the eighth time despite being detained in The Hague, Netherlands over his crimes against humanity case. All key positions in Davao are now occupied by members of the Duterte dynasty or their allies following the midterm elections.

Omar Vincent's victory marks a significant shift in local politics and he expressed gratitude for guidance from his grandfather, emphasizing health and education as priorities during his maiden term in Congress.

The younger Duterte leads against incumbent councilor Javi Garcia Campos who received 90,156 votes (8.99%), securing his position as the new Davao City 2nd District Representative.

Javi Campos' family and the Dutertes were once close but their relationship deteriorated when Javi was expelled from the Duterte-led Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod party, leading him to run under President Ferdinand Marcos’s Partido Federal ng Pilipinas this year.
