Residents evacuate due to Tropical Storm Crising, heavy rains

Residents near Taal Lake and along Laurel's mountain slopes in Batangas are evacuating due to heavy rains from the southwest monsoon intensified by Tropical Storm Crising.

Over 83 families or 314 individuals have moved to evacuation centers, while 302 families or 1,048 people have sought shelter with relatives since Monday.

Laurel Mayor Lyndon Bruce has enforced preemptive evacuations to ensure residents' safety, reminding them of the tragic devastation caused by Typhoon Kristine last year and urging compliance during such weather conditions.

In Barangay Humayingan, nearly 1,000 residents are isolated after floodwaters submerged the spillway, cutting off all roads in or out.

The Batangas Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) reported that five houses were totally damaged-three in Nasugbu, one in Calatagan, and one in Calaca City-while 17 houses were partially damaged across several towns.
