Batangas towns declare calamity after storms; ₱44M agri damage

Five towns and one city in Batangas, including Agoncillo, have declared a state of calamity due to severe damage from the southwest monsoon intensified by tropical storms 'Crising,' 'Dante,' and 'Emong.'

According to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), damages to agriculture across Batangas have reached ₱44.8 million, with 301 houses totally destroyed and 733 partially damaged.

The report also stated that a total of 8,531 families are currently staying in evacuation centers or with relatives due to the ongoing calamity.

Infrastructure damage in Agoncillo amounts to ₱120 million, with 121 families displaced and road closures in several areas of Batangas due to flooding.

A minor landslide occurred in Barangay Locloc, while 690 families are currently staying in 39 evacuation centers within the province.
