Rep Luistro defends VP Duterte impeachment complaint

A member of the House prosecution panel on Thursday defended the legitimacy and constitutionality of the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte.

Batangas Rep. Gerville Luistro dismissed claims that the verification process was flawed, emphasizing that 215 lawmakers signed the complaint during a Feb. 5 caucus.

Luistro also rejected allegations of due process violations, stating that a summons will be issued to Duterte and she will have time to present her evidence.

House Majority Leader Manuel Jose Dalipe accused Duterte allies of weaponizing the Office of the Ombudsman against lawmakers supporting the impeachment complaint.

Dalipe expressed confidence that the Ombudsman would dismiss the request for preventive suspension, calling it a diversionary tactic aimed at undermining House leadership.
