UE PG Rainer Maga transfers to UP, joins Remogat next yr

University of the East's point guard Rainer Maga has transferred to the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons for UAAP Season 89, following in the footsteps of teammate Rey Remogat.

Maga, who averaged 8.1 points per game last season and shot 40% from beyond the arc, will be eligible to play for UP in two years after serving a one-year residency requirement.

UP, defending champions of the previous season, will also have Remogat on their roster next year despite the departures of key players like Gerry Abadiano, Terrence Fortea, and Harold Alarcon.

Along with new commitments from former San Beda Red Lion James Payosing and Jose Maria College standout Arvie Poyos, UP's roster addition will be bolstered by Maga's contributions as JD Cagulangan completes his collegiate career.

Maga expressed gratitude to the University of East for the opportunities provided but decided to move forward with growth in mind.
