Rain or Shine secures first PBA Philippine Cup win with 113-96 victory over NorthPort

Rain or Shine Elasto Painters secured their first victory in the PBA Philippine Cup by defeating NorthPort Batang Pier 113-96 on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Gian Mamuyac led Rain or Shine with a strong performance, dropping 22 points overall and contributing significantly to an early 18-point lead in the first half.

Santi Santillan added a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Andrei Caracut and Caelan Tiongson each scored 15 points; Adrian Nocum contributed with 10 points, eight rebounds, and four assists.

Despite NorthPort's efforts to close the gap in the third quarter, Rain or Shine maintained their lead throughout, eventually winning by as much as 19 points.

Rain or Shine head coach Yeng Guiao attributed part of his team’s success to the absence of Arvin Tolentino from NorthPort and praised the offensive rebounding that helped secure the victory.

NorthPort was led by William Navarro who scored 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, while Jio Jalalon and Evan Nelle each finished with 11 markers.
