Quiambao named UAAP Season 87 men's basketball MVP for second straight year

Kevin Quiambao of La Salle basketball team has been named MVP of the UAAP Season 87 men's basketball tournament, marking his second consecutive win.

Quiambao averaged 16.64 points, 8.64 rebounds, and 4.07 assists in the elimination round, making him only the second player to win back-to-back MVPs since Ben Mbala in 2016-2017.

Despite a challenging final elimination game against NU Bulldogs, Quiambao's performance with Gilas Pilipinas has been commendable and is expected to benefit La Salle as they prepare for their title defense.

Kevin Quiambao accumulated 81.357 statistical points (SPs) to win the MVP award, narrowly beating teammate Mike Phillips who finished second with 74.928 SPs.

La Salle coach Topex Robinson praised Quiambao's consistent effort and leadership, noting his impact on the team’s performance and morale.

The Green Archers will face the winner of the playoff match between Adamson Soaring Falcons and UE Red Warriors on Wednesday, November 27, with Quiambao set to be officially awarded his MVP title in the finals.
