Quiambao eager for Fiba Asia Cup qualifiers vs New Zealand, Hong Kong

Kevin Quiambao, a member of Gilas Pilipinas and reigning UAAP MVP, expressed his motivation to represent the national team in the upcoming Fiba Asia Cup 025 qualifiers, which will take place on November 21 against New Zealand and November 24 against Hong Kong at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Quiambao, who recently led De La Salle University to a 77-66 victory over UP in the UAAP Season 87 men's basketball tournament, emphasized that he feels blessed to represent the country and is taking this opportunity seriously, acknowledging the support of his coach and team during his upcoming stint.

The forward praised his strength and conditioning coach for understanding his physical load and recovery needs, ensuring he is well-prepared for both La Salle games and Gilas commitments.

Alongside Quiambao, Mason Amos from De La Salle University, as well as overseas players Dwight Ramos, Carl Tamayo, Kai Sotto, and PBA stars CJ Perez, June Mar Fajardo, Chris Newsome, Calvin Abueva, Justin Brownlee, Japeth Aguilar, Scottie Thompson, and Jamie Malonzo (though still injured) are also part of the 15-man pool announced by Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas.

Former Ateneo de Manila University star Angelo Kouame, who previously played under Gilas coach Tim Cone in last year's Asian Games where they won gold in Hangzhou, China, is also included in the list.
