Quezon City cop arrested for abuse, harassment

A Quezon City police officer was arrested on Monday after being caught on video allegedly committing abuse, harassment, and unlawful entry while intoxicated.

The officer's firearm has been confiscated by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) as part of the investigation, and charges under Republic Act 7610 for physical injury and violation of domicile are now pending.

According to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), the incident occurred early Monday morning when the officer forcibly entered a house in Barangay Damayan Lagi, Quezon City, without authorization and confronted residents, leading to a heated altercation.

The complainant reported that the officer inflicted physical injuries on her minor daughter during the incident, prompting swift action from QCPD.

Both the QCPD and NCRPO condemned the police officer's actions and emphasized their commitment to enforcing strict policies against such violations.

QCPD Chief Police Brigadier General Melecio Buslig was relieved of his post for failing to immediately report the case to NCRPO leadership, while a full investigation is underway into the incident.

In addition, three QCPD members were also relieved of their posts after allegedly releasing a person under police custody without authorization.
