PNP chief relieves QCPD dir over officer's misconduct

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil ordered the administrative relief of Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Director BGen. Melecio Maddatu Buslig, Jr., following a grave misconduct case involving one of his officers.

The officer in question was captured on video forcibly entering a private residence and allegedly assaulting a minor while under the influence of alcohol.

PNP confirmed that upon verification of facts and evidence, the erring police officer was arrested by his commander and fellow officers, disarmed, and criminal charges were prepared for filing.

Marbil emphasized that abusive officers will not be tolerated and stressed that accountability extends to top officials like Buslig.

This action follows another incident last month when a Quezon City policeman threatened President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Interpol, while also criticizing the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte over crimes against humanity charges.
