QC mayor orders councilor to explain food distribution breach

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte issued a show-cause order to Councilor Franz Pumaren on Wednesday for violating health protocols during a food distribution event in Barangay Old Balara.

The event, which attracted around 6,000 people, failed to enforce physical distancing rules and was held without prior notice or detailed planning.

Belmonte instructed the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) to conduct COVID-19 testing among participants while the matter is under investigation by the Legal Department.
