Lacson hopes death penalty subpanel issue resolved by Monday

Senator Panfilo Lacson hopes the issue of creating a justice subcommittee to discuss death penalty bills will be resolved during an all-senators' caucus on Monday.

On Wednesday, Senator Ronald 'Bato' Dela Rosa argued that the pandemic should not prevent the Senate from debating the reimposition of the death penalty for drug traffickers, as mentioned by President Duterte in his SONA.

During interpellations following Dela Rosa's privilege speech, opposition Senator Francis Pangilinan emphasized that addressing the ongoing pandemic is a priority and questioned how pushing for capital punishment would help solve immediate issues.
