PRC deploys 500 volunteers, staff, medical units for Quiapo Traslacion

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) is preparing to deploy around 500 volunteers and staff for the Traslacion procession of Jesus Nazareno in Quiapo, Manila on January 9.

PRC will set up first aid stations, including 17 along the route and an emergency medical unit with a six-bed module and a 50-bed ward to treat minor injuries, as well as deploy 38 ambulances from Metro Manila and Central and Southern Luzon chapters.

Eighty individuals, including doctors, nurses, PRC staff, volunteers, support staff, and tent builders, will run the medical units and foot patrollers equipped with scooters for quick response during the procession.

The organization also deploys two rescue boats, a rescue truck, a fire truck, a humvee, a 6x6 vehicle, and service vehicles to ensure safety, especially near Ayala Bridge where incidents have occurred in the past.

PRC Chairperson Richard Gordon emphasized that the organization is prepared for any situation or crisis with an elevated level of vigilance during the procession.
