Palace: Police to join 'army' of contact tracers

The government will deploy policemen as contact tracers to strengthen its response to the COVID-19 crisis.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque and PNP spokesperson Bernard Banac announced that police officers are currently undergoing training for this role.

Roque stated that the number of police personnel detailed for contact tracing has not been determined yet, but it depends on what the government can afford to allocate.

The initiative follows Baguio City's successful model where the city was divided into clusters and police personnel assigned to those areas performed contact tracing.
