PNVF releases 33-player wish list for SEA Games

The Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) released a 33-player wish list for upcoming international tournaments such as the SEA Games in Thailand this December on Thursday, March 27.

Jorge Souza de Brito, who mentors the squad aiming to secure a medal at the SEA Games after a long hiatus, included a mix of professional and collegiate players from here and overseas, including Tia Andaya from the USA and Lams Lamina from National University (NU).

Prominent Alas standouts such as Bella Belen, Angel Canino, Thea Gagate, Eya Laure, Faith Nisperos, and Fifi Sharma are among those listed, along with college stars Shaina Nitura, Alyssa Solomon, Evangeline Alinsug, Shevana Laput, Amie Provido, and Clarisse Loresco.

Fans had mixed reactions to the list, praising potential first-timers like Shevana Laput but questioning the omission of former MVPs Sisi Rondina and Jema Galanza.

Eli Soyud, an opposite hitter who previously played under de Brito during his days with Akari Chargers, responded emphatically to critics by scoring a career-high 34 points for Akari in a five-set victory over Choco Mucho on Saturday, March 29.
