PNP seizes PHP43.8B worth of illegal drugs since July 2022

The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced on Tuesday that they have seized PHP43.8 billion worth of illegal drugs from July 2022 to May 17, 2025, under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s bloodless anti-drug campaign.

This amount is significantly higher than the PHP14.3 billion recorded during former president Rodrigo Duterte's controversial war on drugs from July 2016 to May 17, 2019.

On Thursday, the PNP reported seizing over PHP14 million worth of illegal drugs in two-week operations nationwide from May 4 to 17, aligning with President Marcos Jr.'s directive to target both big-time drug syndicates and small-time dealers.

PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil emphasized that the police force is committed to arresting all individuals involved in illegal drug activities, while Brig. Gen. Jason Capoy, officer-in-charge of the PNP Drug Enforcement Group, said his proposed anti-drug strategy will be submitted soon to enhance operational effectiveness and community engagement.

President Marcos pledged during his third State of the Nation Address last year to continue a bloodless anti-narcotics drive without extermination.
