PNP records 40,678 COVID-19 cases, death toll reaches 121

As of Friday, October 8, the total number of COVID-19 cases among Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel reached 40,678, with 38,892 recoveries and 1,665 active cases.

The death toll due to COVID-19 among PNP personnel increased to 121 after two more police officers died on October 5 and 6.

One of the fatalities was a 31-year-old corporal from Calabarzon who had acute myeloid leukemia, while the other was a master sergeant from Metro Manila with stage 5 chronic kidney disease.

Active cases among PNP personnel have decreased by 21% in the past two weeks, dropping to 1,727 as of October 7.
