PNP probes 183 barangay officials over SAP irregularities

The Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) is investigating 183 barangay officials for alleged irregularities in the distribution of aid under the Social Amelioration Program.

DILG Secretary Eduardo Año stated that numerous complaints led to these investigations, with probable cause found in 183 cases.

Año noted that President Duterte has offered a PHP30,000 reward for information leading to confirmed incidents of barangay official involvement in SAP aid distribution anomalies.

The PNP is eager to arrest corrupt officials, whom Año described as 'virus of society'.

Specific cases include Danilo Flores, a councilor from Bulacan who allegedly took PHP3,500 from the PHP6,500 cash aid distributed per beneficiary, and Maria Luz Leal Ferrer in Negros Occidental facing complaints for alleged anomalies.
