PNP dissolves APCs to improve coordination

On Monday, the Philippine National Police (PNP) announced that it will dissolve its Area Police Commands (APC) due to overlapping duties.

Brigadier General Jean Fajardo, PNP spokesperson, assured during a press briefing at Camp Crame that the deactivation would be smooth and personnel displacement would not occur.

The abolition of APCs for Northern Luzon, Southern Luzon, the Visayas, Western Mindanao, and Eastern Mindanao is set to take place this month but was delayed at the request of Police General Rommel Marbil to ensure a gradual transition.

Approximately 158 second-level uniformed personnel and 26 generals are affected by this change, with most being reassigned to the newly created Negros Island Region Police Office or other regional offices as needed.

Fajardo explained that the dissolution aims to streamline coordination for internal security operations and disaster-related activities, functions that can now be handled by regional offices.
