Remains of PNPP Col Bong Malabed arrive Feb 20

The remains of Colonel Pergentino 'Bong' Malabed Jr., a Philippine National Police official killed in an air collision near Washington D.C. on January 29, will arrive in the Philippines on Thursday, February 20 at 7:45 am.

His widow Rio Malabed has requested privacy for her family during this time and no additional information will be released out of respect for their wishes.

A viewing of Colonel Malabed's remains is scheduled from February 21 to February 23 at the Philippine National Police Mortuary in Camp Crame, with full honors planned on February 27.

The cremation ceremony is set for February 25 and interment on March 5 at 4:00 p.m. in Manila Memorial Park, Barangay Dita, Santa Rosa City, Laguna.

Colonel Malabed was on official travel fulfilling his duty to protect and secure the nation when he died.

The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board continues to investigate whether a faulty altimeter or communication failure contributed to the tragic accident.
