Malabed's remains arrive in Manila for honors

The remains of Police Colonel Pergentino 'Bong' Malabed Jr., who died in a mid-air collision involving a military helicopter and a passenger plane in Washington D.C. on January 29, arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Friday morning.

Col. Malabed's remains were received by his family, friends, and select Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel, who accorded him foyer honors before transporting the remains to Camp Crame for arrival honors.

At a ceremony held at the PNP Mortuary in Camp Crame, Gen. Rommel Marbil posthumously awarded Col. Malabed with the Medalya ng Katapatan sa Paglilingkod and Medalya ng Katangi-tanging Gawa for his exceptional service and achievements.

Necrological services are scheduled for February 27 at the Multi-Purpose Center of Camp Crame, followed by funeral honors at Memorial Gardens in Sta. Rosa City, Laguna.

His family will also receive over P2.6 million from the PNP Savings and Loan Association, Inc., and other insurance provisions.
