PNP chief warns direct arrests for ECQ violators

PNP Chief Archie Francisco Gamboa warned that violators of enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) guidelines will face direct arrests without prior warnings if full implementation similar to martial law is enforced.

Gamboa stated authorities are prepared for stricter measures and may file criminal charges against violators, including those who do not adhere to social distancing and curfew rules.

The PNP chief emphasized the need for compliance with quarantine protocols to curb the spread of COVID-19, noting President Duterte's warning that he would let the military and police take over if Filipinos remain undisciplined.

Gamboa assured the public that while stricter measures will be implemented, human rights will still be respected during enforcement.
