PNP aiding AFP in Col Escalona’s murder probe

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has provided investigative assistance in the case of military lawyer Colonel Rolando C. Escalona Jr., who was found dead inside his quarters at Camp Aguinaldo over the weekend.

AFP spokesperson Brigadier General Jean Fajardo stated that the AFP requested privacy for the ongoing investigation, and PNP is coordinating with SOCO to conduct a thorough examination of the scene.

Colonel Escalona sustained one gunshot wound and was found with a firearm matching his injury; however, further details about the nature and progress of the investigation remain undisclosed due to privacy requests by the AFP.

The family of Colonel Escalona also requested privacy during the investigation, and PNP confirmed that an autopsy has been conducted but results may take until this week to be released.

The Forensic Group has processed the scene where the incident occurred; however, additional information such as ballistic or paraffin examination results are still pending.
