PNP reports 60th COVID-19 death among civilian staff

A civilian employee of the Philippine National Police (PNP) has become its 60th fatality due to COVID-19 on May 11.

The deceased is a 48-year-old non-uniformed personnel assigned at the Quezon Provincial Police Office who initially sought medical assistance for fever and dry cough but was later confirmed positive for COVID-19.

Despite receiving oxygen support, the patient's condition worsened and they were declared dead by an attending physician on May 11.

Additionally, as of May 10, another 48 police officers have recovered from the virus, bringing the total recovery count to 19,661 with a 92.9% recovery rate.

The PNP also recorded 72 new cases, increasing active cases to 1,518 or 7.17% of total cases since March last year.
