Government provides PHP172M aid for Mount Kanlaon eruption victims

The government and local authorities have provided PHP172.1 million in aid to families affected by Mount Kanlaon's eruption, with assistance including food packs, hygiene kits, sleeping kits, generator sets, and financial aid.

This support has reached 10,032 families across Western Visayas and Central Visayas, with 7,551 families in Western Visayas and 2,481 in Central Visayas.

Of the affected families, 3,164 are currently sheltering in evacuation centers while 2,408 are being supported outside these centers.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) dispatched an additional 16,500 food packs to reach its target of 100,000 family food packs for relief operations.

DSWD teams have been evaluating potential evacuation centers in La Castellana and monitoring the condition of evacuees across Canlaon City to ensure sustained aid for their everyday needs.

As of this posting, 57 cities and municipalities have declared a state of calamity due to Kanlaon's continuing unrest - 32 towns and cities in Western Visayas and 25 in Central Visayas.
