Heavy rains, strong winds persist in PH despite Kristine exiting

Heavy rainfall is expected to continue in parts of the Philippines on Saturday despite Severe Tropical Storm Kristine exiting the Philippine area of responsibility on Friday afternoon.

Moderate to heavy rains, or 50 to 100 mm of rainfall, will be felt in Palawan, Western Visayas, Negros Occidental, and the southern portion of Negros Oriental, according to PAGASA weather forecaster Chenel Dominguez.

Strong to gale-force gusts are forecasted for these areas on Saturday: Palawan, Romblon, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Siquijor, Bohol, Southern Leyte, Zamboanga del Norte, Camiguin, Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte.

On Sunday, strong to gale-force gusts are expected in Palawan, Romblon, the entire Visayas region, Zamboanga del Norte, Camiguin, Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte.

Tropical Storm Kristine has reportedly killed 46 individuals and will continue moving westward over the West Philippine Sea until Sunday, when it is expected to loop counterclockwise on Monday.
