Philippines may aid OFWs in locked down Shanghai with P10,000

Philippine officials may provide P10,000 financial aid to each OFW affected by the COVID-19 lockdown in Shanghai.

DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III stated that assistance will begin once the DFA identifies the OFWs in need.

Currently, DOLE is distributing food and medicine to these workers.

Shanghai has been under a two-phased lockdown since its biggest COVID-19 outbreak began.

About 42,000 individuals have contracted the virus in Shanghai alone.
