Philippines logs 1,554 new COVID-19 cases

The Philippines recorded 1,554 new COVID-19 infections on Tuesday, bringing the active tally down to 25,004.

This is a decrease from Monday's figures of 2,106 new cases and 26,014 active infections.

In the past week, there have been five consecutive days with more than 2,000 new daily cases.

The DOH reported that this brings the total number of confirmed cases to 3,971,455.

NCR has recorded the highest number of recent infections at 11,347, followed by Calabarzon (5,307), Central Luzon (2,712), Davao Region (1,417), and Western Visayas (946).

The recovery tally increased to 3,883,122 with 2,446 new recoveries.

There were also 32 new fatalities reported, raising the death toll to 63,329.
