PH explores local and Singaporean apps for COVID-19 tracing

A team of Filipino IT specialists has developed a community-based contact-tracing app called Covid19TrackerPH to support the government's efforts against COVID-19.

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is in talks with developers about launching the app, while also evaluating Singapore's TraceTogether app for potential use.

TraceTogether records encounters between users by exchanging Bluetooth signals within a two to five-meter range; if one user tests positive, authorities can identify close contacts.

The Philippine government is beginning beta testing of its own contact-tracing app and has organized a task force to combat misinformation on social media.
