Philippines daily average of new COVID-19 cases up by 33%

The Philippines' daily average of new coronavirus cases increased by 33% from March 27 to April 2, with the DOH reporting 246 daily infections compared to 185 in the previous week.

A total of 1,721 new COVID-19 cases were recorded from March 27 to April 2, a significant rise from the 1,298 cases reported the week before.

The number of severe and critical infections also increased to 347 from 307 in the previous week, while ICU bed utilization remained low at 13.7%. No new deaths were recorded recently; all recent additions to the death toll are backlogs from earlier periods.
