Philippines aims to improve at ASEAN Para Games

The Philippines aims to improve its performance in the upcoming ASEAN Para Games, which will take place from June 3 to 9 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Team Philippines consists of 172 differently abled athletes and 45 coaches, with a target to exceed their fifth-place finish last year in Surakarta, Indonesia where they won 28 golds, 30 silvers, and 46 bronzes.

The Philippine delegation has been finalized at 259 athletes and officials, including veterans from swimming, chess, and athletics who contributed significantly to the previous medal haul.

Chef de mission Walter Torres stated that while it's hard to predict exact medal counts, the goal is to surpass last year’s performance as part of preparation for larger competitions like the Hangzhou Asian Para Games and Paris Paralympics.
