Alas Pilipinas girls beat Malaysia in Princess Cup

Alas Pilipinas girls secured their second consecutive victory at the Princess Cup Southeast Asian Under-18 Women's Volleyball Championship by defeating Malaysia in a closely contested match on Sunday.

Kimberly Rubin and Lianne Penuliar were instrumental in leading the Philippine team to a 25-20, 27-29, 25-22, 25-18 win over Malaysia, maintaining their unbeaten record.

Despite facing challenges from Malaysia, particularly in the second set where they saved four set points but couldn't maintain the lead, Alas Pilipinas quickly regrouped to secure a crucial third-set victory and ultimately clinch the match with an eight-point run in the fourth set.

With this win, the Philippine U-18 squad now holds an early 2-0 record in the six-team competition, setting them up for their next game against Thailand on Monday at 5:30 p.m. Manila time.

National girls' volleyball team coach Taka Minowa continues to lead Alas Pilipinas towards a potential championship, with the top two teams advancing to the final match on June 13.
