Gamez and Korovin finish 4th in Asian Winter Games pairs skating

Isabella Gamez and Aleksandr Korovin finished fourth in the pairs figure skating event at the 9th Asian Winter Games on Wednesday night, Feb. 12, in Harbin, China.

The Filipino pair scored a total of 155.62 points but fell short of securing a medal after bronze medalists Yuna Nagaoka and Sumitada Moriguchi of Japan tallied an accumulated score of 168.35, with gold going to Uzbekistan's Ekaterina Geynish and Dmitrii Chigirev.

Gamez said she was under the weather during the competition and attributed their fourth-place finish primarily to mental nerves, emphasizing the need for more confidence in themselves as they look ahead to upcoming competitions.

Korovin highlighted that while the pair has improved a lot since three years ago, there is still room for growth and greater self-confidence.

They are set to compete in the 2025 Four Continent Figure Skating Championships from February 19 to 23 at the Mokdong Ice Rink in Seoul, South Korea to strengthen their bid for next year's Milano Cortina Winter Olympic Games.
