Philippine economic team resigns after president's 'bold reset' call

Most members of the Philippine economic team and related departments are set to resign following President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s call for a 'bold reset' of the Cabinet.

Transport Secretary Vince Dizon, Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel, Finance Secretary Ralph Recto, and Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman have already submitted their resignations.

Trade Secretary Ma. Cristina Roque, National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Secretary Arsenio Balisacan, Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Raphael Lotilla, and Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Henry Aguda also confirmed they will be submitting their resignations within the day.

All secretaries cited their commitment to serving at the pleasure of the President and emphasized that these decisions are made in the best interest of the Filipino people.

President Marcos' bold decision reflects his desire to prioritize people and country amid complex global and domestic challenges.
