MBC, PCCI back Marcos Jr.'s retention of economic team

The Makati Business Club (MBC) and Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) expressed support for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s decision to retain his economic team following the call for courtesy resignations.

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin announced that Trade Secretary Cristina Roque, Finance Secretary Ralph Recto, Economy Planning and Development Secretary Arsenio Balisacan, Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, and Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs Frederick Go will continue in their roles.

The business groups highlighted the stability of economic policies and initiatives provided by the retained Cabinet secretaries, emphasizing productive engagements with departments in the economic cluster.

MBC chairman Edgar Chua noted that retaining key members would minimize disruption in government programs and help achieve set growth targets and poverty reduction goals while urging quick action to curb uncertainty.

The groups also expressed support for Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla's transfer to head the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), praising his competence and integrity during his tenure at DOE.
