Philippines Logs Over 2,900 New COVID-19 Cases; Total Now at 197K

As of Wednesday, the Philippines' total number of coronavirus cases has reached 197,164 with 61,730 active cases.

On Tuesday alone, 2,965 new infections were reported, primarily from Metro Manila and nearby provinces such as Negros Occidental, Laguna, Cavite, and Batangas.

Of the total cases, around 82% occurred within the past two weeks, with NCR accounting for 59% of these recent cases.

Total recoveries have increased to 132,396, while deaths remain at 3,028.

The Department of Health reports that most active cases are mild (91.6%), followed by asymptomatic (6.1%) and severe/critical cases.
