Philippines Reports Over 2,000 New COVID-19 Cases on Friday

As of Friday, the Philippines' COVID-19 case count rose to 391,809 with 2,092 new infections.

Recoveries increased by 462 to a total of 349,974 while the death toll climbed to 7,461 with 52 new fatalities.

Active cases stand at 34,374, with 83.6% mild, 9.8% asymptomatic, 2.4% severe, and 4.2% critical.

On Thursday, the DOH reported 1,594 new infections and 468 recoveries, pushing total cases to 389,725 and recoveries to 349,543.

The highest number of newly reported cases were in Manila City (253), Cavite (126), Davao City (78), Rizal (78), and Quezon City (73).

Vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. said vaccination could begin in May 2021 if everything goes well.
