Philippines risks losing 80% EEZ in South China Sea

Former Supreme Court Justice Antonio Carpio warns that the Philippines risks losing 80% of its exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the South China Sea if it does not challenge China's militarization.

This loss would deprive future generations of marine wealth and result in a maritime territory larger than the country's total land area falling under Chinese control.

Carpio suggests three actions: legal fight through arbitration, strengthening alliances, and enhancing self-defense capabilities.

He also urges President Duterte to prioritize Filipino people over diplomatic relations with China.
