Anjo Pertierra returns to work after Typhoon Carina

Anjo Pertierra returned to work on 'Unang Hirit' Thursday after being severely affected by Super Typhoon Carina.

On the show, Anjo detailed his harrowing experience and journey to make it to work, documenting strong floodwaters inside his home where he was eventually rescued by authorities through a paddle boat.

Anjo's videos showed that floodwaters reached chest-level in his basement room, forcing him to evacuate with just one bag as his car was already flooded.

Despite the ongoing challenges, 'Unang Hirit' thanked Anjo for his dedication and commitment to duty, noting that he had no clean clothes left after evacuating quickly due to the rapid rise of water levels.

Typhoon Carina exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility Thursday morning but intensified into a Super Typhoon late Wednesday, exacerbating flooding in Metro Manila and prompting a state of calamity declaration in Cainta, Rizal, and earlier in Metro Manila.

Several organizations have opened up donation drives to benefit those affected by the super typhoon.
