PCG suspends sea travel in 12 regions due to Tropical Storm Kristine

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Surigao del Norte, Marinduque, Negros Oriental, Siquijor, and Northern Cebu suspended all sea travel on Monday due to Tropical Storm Kristine.

Following PAGASA's announcement of Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 for several areas including Surigao del Norte, Dinagat Islands, Siargao and Bucas Grande islands, Marinduque, Romblon, Negros Oriental, Siquijor, Eastern Samar, Northern Samar, Samar, Leyte, Biliran, and Southern Leyte, the PCG imposed a complete ban on vessel operations in these regions.

All movements of vessels with a gross tonnage of 250 tons or below plying routes within Coast Guard Station Northern Cebu are also suspended.

The PCG advised small vessels and fishing boats to avoid going to sea due to unfavorable weather conditions, urging travelers to monitor updates and postpone trips if necessary.

Beachgoers were discouraged from swimming because of the unsafe weather conditions, with coastal communities advised to remain vigilant against strong winds and high waves.

Voyages will resume only upon improvement of weather and sea conditions as declared by PAGASA.
