MV Kamilla catches fire after collision with cargo vessel off Navotas

A passenger ship, MV Kamilla, caught fire off Navotas City on Monday after being hit by a cargo vessel during Tropical Storm Enteng.

The incident occurred when cargo vessel LCT GT Express collided with MV Kamilla in the Navotas Anchorage Area, Manila Bay, causing damage to MV Kamilla's bridge.

A fire broke out shortly after the impact at 9:19 am, prompting the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to raise the alarm level to first alert and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) to deploy BRP Suluan for firefighting operations.

Despite strong winds and high waves making rescue efforts difficult, all 18 crew members aboard MV Kamilla were safely rescued by authorities with medical assistance provided by the Bureau of Fire Protection Navotas Medical Team.

Tropical Storm Enteng caused heavy rains and strong winds in Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon, affecting multiple vessels within the vicinity waters of Navotas City.
