PBA, NBI investigate death threats against RJ Abarrientos

The PBA is coordinating with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to address death threats allegedly made against Barangay Ginebra's rookie RJ Abarrientos following a loss to Meralco in Game 2 of the Commissioner's Cup quarterfinals on Friday.

League commissioner Willie Marcial confirmed that he has been working with both Abarrientos and Ginebra management regarding the situation, and possesses copies of threatening messages sent after the game.

Among the threats was one warning to 'gun them down' from a netizen who reportedly lost money due to Ginebra's 108-104 loss in Game 2.

In that match, Abarrientos took a potential game-tying shot but missed it as Meralco secured victory.

The series is now tied at one win each and will conclude with a decisive Game 3 on Sunday.
