PBA moves opener to March 8 due to coronavirus

The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) has postponed the start of its 45th season to March 8 from the original date of March 1 due to concerns over the novel coronavirus.

The PBA D-League's opening has also been moved from February 13 to March 2.

Commissioner Willie Marcial stated that these measures are preventive and prioritize the safety of fans, teams, players, and officials.

Despite the delay, the season will begin with a rematch between San Miguel Beer and Magnolia at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
